Chemical Peel

This acne treatment is good for treating mild to moderate acne. Chemical peels are not recommended, however, if your skin is still suffering from severe breakouts. Glycolic acid peels are good for treating discolorations in lighter skin tones, treating pigment changes, removing superficial scars and shrinking large pores. This works by exfoliating the top layer of dead skin cells. This solution will need to stay on your skin anywhere from 2 to 15 minutes. The deciding factor will be how much damage has been done to your skin. The average cost of this treatment is $100.00 to $200.00.

Salicylic acid peels consist of a 20% solution and are good for removing blackheads and whiteheads, exfoliating oil-clogged pores and for shedding dead skin cells. This solution will only stay on your skin for about a minute. The average cost of this treatment is between $100.00 and $200.00. You may need up to 4 visits, occurring 3 weeks apart.

Your skin may have a burning sensation during these procedures but this is said to be bearable.

Your skin will be red and dry at first and you will need to stay out of the sun and wear moisturizer until you heal.
